Alki resident Wayne Kinslow swam his 1,000th consecutive day off Alki Beach on Monday, April 27, 2015.

This video above shows the 51-year-old diving into the 55-degree water, swimming north into Puget Sound and then back again to a hero’s welcome, receiving a special gift.

As he says in a brief interview at the end, when he swims in Puget Sound, “Your body just comes alive.”
