GiveBig to the Southwest Seattle Historical Society

Support your local history through GiveBig 2020!

Mark your calendars! On Wednesday, May 6 you can show your support for your history and community by making a gift to the Southwest Seattle Historical Society as part of GiveBig 2020. All gifts, no matter the size, make an enormous difference for the Historical Society as we promote local heritage through education, preservation, and advocacy.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on every member of our community, including the Historical Society. Every day that the temporary closure of the Log House Museum is extended creates a more daunting financial challenge for the Historical Society in the weeks and months ahead. We need your support now more than ever to ensure that the Historical Society remains a dynamic and inclusive community resource for years to come. Our dedicated staff are producing dynamic digital content during our temporary closure, while also planning programs, exhibits, and community initiatives for later this year. These include an exhibit on the history of women’s suffrage on the Duwamish peninsula, oral history projects, our annual ‘If These Walls Could Talk’ home tour, and a youth writing contest. They are also working to conserve the letters of Doc Maynard, which were donated to the Historical Society earlier this year. Your gift will directly support these efforts and so much more. Please join us and many others by making a gift to the Historical Society during GiveBig 2020!

P.S. Did you know that you can make a GiveBig gift to the Historical Society before May 6? Early giving will run from April 22 to May 5. Visit our GiveBig page at the link above for more details.
