VIDEO: The inside story of the Admiral totem pole

Carol Vincent, longtime volunteer and former president of the Southwest Seattle Historical Society, relates the history behind the story pole carved by Duwamish Tribe member Michael Halady and installed in 2006 at Belvedere View Point Park on Admiral Way in West Seattle.

The story pole is the latest of three poles to stand sentry at the Admiral viewpoint. The second pole, a totem pole that is a replica of the first pole placed there in 1939,was unveiled June 6, 2014, at our “Birthplace of Seattle” Log House Museum of the Southwest Seattle Historical Society. The second pole stood at the viewpoint from 1966 to 2006.
