Dinah Brein welcomes you to the moviehouse we ‘saved’: the Historic Admiral Theater!

With just three days’ notice, Cineplex Odeon closed the Admiral Theater on Jan. 29, 1989, and on that night, a picket by our organization launched a campaign to secure city landmark status for the 1942 moviehouse.

In this video, 60 years after the Admiral’s opening, manager Dinah Brein (pronounced BRY-uhn) touches on the high points of that history as her management company, Far Away Entertainment, makes plans for refurbishing and modernizing this art-deco jewel.
