West Seattle High School: “Rich Traditions” 2004
West Seattle High School: “Rich Traditions” celebrated the cultural and historical significance of this newly restored Southwest Seattle neighborhood landmark. It examined the school’s 85-year commitment to excellence and diversity in educational, extracurricular, athletic, and community activities for more than 27,000 WSHS students. Unique use of traditional Chinook school paper layouts gave authenticity to the evocative and nostalgic look at this beloved alma mater. Eloquent quotes from 40-year WSHS teacher and administrator Gordon Hannaford were used to illustrate the exhibit’s theme.
