VIDEO: Just in time for summer, visit the Luna Girls sculpture!

Video contributed by Mark Jaroslaw of Avenue Productions

With summer nearly upon us, now is a great time to see West Seattle artist Lezlie Jane’s playful, see-through sculpture “Luna Girls,” just north of Salty’s on Alki on Harbor Avenue Southwest.

Installation was completed Feb. 24, 2014, the sculpture was dedicated on March 9, 2014.

Lezlie describes the subjects on her website: “three charming young ladies, in 1920s beach attire, perch elegantly on life-rings, welcoming visitors to Seacrest Park and the waterfront Alki Trail in Seattle.”

The women who are depicted each have names (from left) Emily, Gunvor Katja and Lorna.

The Southwest Seattle Historical Society provided early backing for this fun sculpture, which is historical and contemporary all at once. For more information on Lezlie and the “Luna Girls,” see her website.
